Dad

Kisses for his Boo Boo :)
(Don't mind my sisters face, charlee just did her makeup! haha)Charlee: "Grandpop, do you have a boo boo?"
Dad: "Yes, Charlee, but the doctor will fix it tomorrow."
Charlee: "ohhh ok. (notices hospital gown) Grandpop are you a Princess?"
Dad: "No silly girl, i'm Grandpop! But I do have a nice gown on huh!"

I got a text at 8:30 that said the Dr. is putting a stent in right now. That's a great thing! I'm still praying he does great with it. After this stent though, there may not be much hope for that little artery if it gets clogged again. So Dad is going to have to be on some wicked good heart medication and be a GOOD boy with his diet! (haha, he'e been doing steller so far!) Thanks again for all your prayers!!

Daddy Update

Here's an update on my Dad. Right after his appointment this afternoon, he was admitted into the hospital. He is scheduled for an angiogram at 7am tomorrow morning. That is when they shoot dye into the artery and watch where it shows the blockages. While their in there, they take pictures and if they can put in a stent to keep the artery open, they will. From this test, they will see if bypass surgery is even an option. The artery that is blocked is a smaller one in the back of the heart which is difficult to get to. They might not be able to bypass it. Which in this case, they will have to let it take it's course, my dad will have a small heart attack and that part of the tissue will die off. The heart will then learn how to compensate for the lost artery. Tomorrow at around 10am, we should know what the Dr. is able/ is wanting to do with him. We saw him in the hospital this evening and he's feeling fine for now. Your continued prayers and support are much needed and appreciated! Thanks so much!

Grace

God for sure had a plan for me today. And I noticed it. This morning we had a speaker on our last day at Mom2Mom. The Wonderful Katherine Martin! She spoke to us briefly about Grace. It's Love in Another Face. Random Acts of Kindness. When someone does something for you that you didn't see coming. Katherine asked us today if we had been graced? Well after that A-MAZING breakfast, I said, "oh yeah I have!" But she also asked, have you graced someone else today? Well considering it was only 10am ish, no I haven't. After coming home and putting my daughter down for a nap I recieved a phone call from my Dad. (The Post below is all about that.) The phone call made me pretty upset. I mean come on. He just went through this! And 4 months later we gotta do it AGAIN? Especially after a friend of ours just lost her Dad to a heart attack. With all that, the flood gates opened for a good 10 minutes. (Thankfully my husband was home on Lunch Break :) Shortly there after I had to get myself together, and work the bar tonight with a smile. Yeah right. The first 2 hours I couldn't smile and felt like I was going to fall asleep. I was drained in every way. Thinking about my Dad. Needless to say, I got a nice shower of Stella Artois (cause it fell off my tray) and dropped at least 20 pieces of silverwear. My Mojo was way off. God met me where I was at and showered me with something else. Grace.
Part I - Gracing Others
Towards the end of my night at work, I found out the gentleman on Table 91 was getting ready to propose to his girlfriend. Of course I kept an eye on the table waiting for it to be cleared from dinner, so I could get a front row seat to the special event! As I was passing by, his girlfriend had gone to the restroom and he was VERY nervous! I stopped to jokingly tell him to breathe (inhale, exhale, he he he hoo, etc. haha). As my manager also approached to wish him luck, we found out that this man did NOT have a camera! (You CANT have a proposal without a Camera!) Thinking fast I remembered I had my camera in my purse so I offered to take some photos for them and e-mail them to him this evening. He of course was so thankful. We watched the whole thing unfold. I got some nice shots of the dessert and the ring before they were sent out. I got her first reaction, his reaction, putting the ring on, the kiss, etc.! They were SO excited and of course she said YES! I always love doing things for people out of the blue anyways, so I didn't really remember about what I had learned this morning.......
Part II-Being Graced (After the Proposal)
I was serving one of my tables dessert. Since it was their anniversary, I served it to them myself with a candle to celebrate. (We do that for every anniversary.) When I went to the Pantry to pick up their dessert, our Pantry chef Mariano said," Here Jess, I saved these just for you." He slid me a small ramekin with 2 big and beautiful chocolate covered strawberries! I guess they were made for the couple's special dessert since we don't serve them normally with other desserts. I never asked for them. No one knew what was going on with me this afternoon. No one knew about my Dad. There were at least 15 other people that could have gotten those. But he saved them for me. At that moment, it hit me. I looked at the Strawberries, and then at Mariano and said, "Mariano, you just graced me!" He looked at me with a HUh? face, but I knew! I gave him a hug and thanked him. I also told him briefly about my Dad, so he could really understand how truly thankful I was for his random act of kindess. AKA. Grace. At the end of the night, my co-worker Lori was bummed that Mariano didn't have any left-over, so I gave her one of mine :) Then again, passing back the Grace buck.
I feel blessed that Katherine's devotion today impacted me directly. Now I feel at Peace. I know God is here, and he's doing his job. He did the "plus one" tonight not just by being with my Dad, but me too. What a blessing :)

Quick Update

They did the test, we get the results tomorrow at 3pm. I'm praying for Dr.Shaver now as he is examining the results and figuring out what to do. I will keep you all updated when I know. Thanks so much to those that have responded already! It means so much to us!

Please Pray For My Dad!!!

I just got off the phone with my Dad. He has a history of heart disease that runs in his side of the family. Just this last February he had an Angioplasty. It's a ballooning device they use to clear the arteries of any future blockages. Since then, he's done a remarkable job at changing his diet, and he's lost a nice amount of weight. Well just now, my Dad told me he's having more chest pain, and is going to see the Doc this afternoon at 4pm for a treadmill and a stress test to see what's up. There was a percentage that the Angioplasty would not hold, and the artery would go right back to it's original state. He feels this might be the case. In which, they have to do Bypass Surgery. My Grandfather had 4 at one time at the ripe age of 49. My Dad just turned 48. Please Pray for my Dad. Give thanks that my Dad is not stubborn like most people in this case. He senses the pain and he attends to it. He is not afraid and is a strong man. In addition of course please pray for Dr. Shaver that he will catch the problem and assign my Dad the best solution. Then, I pray that Dad's heart will handle whatever Dr. prescribes. Prayer for my Mom and family would be great too. Being a family of 3 girls, plus, Mom, it's hard on us to watch him go through this.

When I got off the phone with him, all I could hear was Marilyn Morche this morning say, "I didn't even call family first, I called the Prayer Team" Thank You Marilyn!

My sincere thanks for your time, I will keep you posted.

Time For A Break

Yesterday, I had the day off to attend a friend's birthday party. We were also planning to use this time to move another load to our new place. However, after not getting an ounce of sleep the night before, waking up feeling sick, and hearing the party was canceled, our day panned out different then planned. Thank God. We slept in, went to IHOP (what else is new?) then came home, took a nap, and Isaac took me out to a movie while Charlee played at my friend Ashley's house! We saw The Soloist. I can't even begin to explain how great that movie was!! I'm surprised that I didn't cry. It was very moving, especially since Isaac and I both have hearts for the homeless, plus we both are/have been musicians. Plus the videography was amazing. Enough of my talking, just go see it! After the movie, we came home and Charlee was super hyper and running around in her diaper. While I was right in the middle of getting into my jammies, she tagged me. Yeah. It was quite fun mirroring her sense of, uh, style and playing tag! hahaha! What fun being a kid :)
Moving does not only take on a toll physically and mentally, but emotionally too. We only took over one load on Saturday and the whole time we were biting eachother's heads off! So yesterday was a much needed day of peace, relaxation and unity :) You know what else is cool? This month has 5 weekends in it, instead of 4...........that rocks!

What a Sweetie

So this is our day where Daddy is gone all day, and it's just us girls. Charlee walks in our room this morning and lays down on my tummy so I can give her a "back skatch skatch" (back scratch). After a few minutes she looks up at me and says, "I love you Mommy!" She hasn't said those words much, so it was very cute! And then after I got ready for the day, she comes in the bathroom and says "Oh gosh, your gorgeous!" AHHHHHH I just about died! We always compliment each other after we get dressed, but this time was just too cute :)

Recent Pictures and Updates

Since last week, I have gotten my grades back for my 2nd unit of my wedding coordination school. A+ baby! :) In addition, Isaac just finished his research paper for English, has completed the rest of his Math homework for the Semester. We have all his Fall classes picked out and will be registered tomorrow morning (YEEEEAAAHHH!!!) All last week we worked hard in packing as much stuff as we could and getting it all situated in the Living Room so it would be ready to load up once the weekend got here. Last Thursday Charlee and I had a little day out. We went to IHOP for breakfast and then to the Park to play Candy Land under a shady tree. She of course didn't last long with the game, and we ended up playing in the water. We had a blast! After a nice long nap, we joined Kristen and her kids, and Kelly and her kids at the park for some more play time. I noticed Charlee wasn't her usuall self. Was very clingy and didn't want to play much. That night she was fine, but the next morning, she woke up super early, came in my room and after taking a bottle, threw up. Hoo-Ray. As I was giving her a bath, she was falling over unable to hold herself up. Her eyes were rolling a little and she was pale. After telling Daddy this, he suggested I call her Doctor to make sure it's just a little bug. The Nurse at the Doc's office said because of her lack of conciousness, I need to take her to the ER. NOT what I wanted to hear!! haha, but oh well, in we went. Surprisingly, it wasn't too bad (cause Eisenhower rocks that way...:) During our visit, she did amazing. She helped the doctor examine her by holding the little light thing, and holding the stethoscope on her cheast. She even got her own gloves to wear! Because she did so great, the Doc gave her 2 Cherry Popsicles! Since she needed more fluids, that worked out great :) And of course just like all children, she was up and about the rest of the day as if nothing had happened.....stinker! haha. But no, her sickness was not the "R2D2" that's going around, just a little bug. In addition to her being sick, we also had to move this weekend. We were able to acomplish 2 giant loads which was super! Everything lays out nicely in our little room. AND on top of that, Isaac's had to use every free second to write his research paper due tomorrow. Yeah. We've been busy! But things are getting done. That's all I need :)

Mother's Day

Once again, I have succeeded at not taking a single photo on Mother's Day. (Thanks you stupid camera battery!!) The day unfolded as so.....

10:00am- Charlee wakes up. Daddy goes to get her so I can sleep in :) Daddy and Charlee then come crawling in bed with me. She then says, Happy Birthday Mommy! (hehehehehlol) Daddy corrects her and then she says, Happy Mother's Day! So Sweet :) Daddy then goes over the day with me. He says "no moving, no cleaning, we are doing whatever you want today. Where would you like to get breakfast?" Of course Charlee chimes in with, "IHOP!!!" haha. Daddy speaks up and says that he wanted to take me out to Ruth's Chris, if I was up for it. (I was scheduled to work that day at 5pm, so we would have to go early when they open at 2pm.) He also mentioned that in waking up Charlee, she said something about Doughnuts....So the plan was to go get A doughnut, swing by the store on the way home, and get ready for our "Linner" at Ruth's Chris!

Charlee had a small chocolate doughnut with sprinkles. I had a small chocolate with choc chips, and Daddy had a maple doughnut. We had a great time talking with the 2 old ladies in the shop that were just adoring Charlee :) Once we got home, I changed into something cute and comfy and we headed in to Ruth's for a 2:15 reservation. All the girls at the front were so excited to see Charlee! Plus Jeanette commented on her pretty pearls that she insisted on wearing from Mommy's jewelery box...:) We of course sat with Mike Brown as always. We all shared a delicious Tomato and Mozzarella Salad to start. Followed by our favorite, Ribeye cooked Medium Rare, with a side of Broccoli Au Gratin and Lyaonaise Potatoes! (YUMMY!) This time I had a garlic crust on the side, which was BOMB with the steak :) For dessert, we had the greatest cheesecake in the world, with extra fresh berries :) The entire time we were there, Charlee was on her best behavior! She was quiet, and listened very well, and ate like a champ :) She was so sweet to all the servers that stopped by to say hi to us. We were very proud of her, not to mention she looked adorable with her purple and beige flower dress :) At the end of our meal, my manager Matt came over to say hi, and to tell me to enjoy my night OFF!!! I guess it wasn't going to be busy in the bar, so he let me enjoy my mother's day with my family :) SO COOL! So after that we went to the mall. Bought a little tool box for Daddy, a book for me and one for charlee, and looked around for some sandals. No luck. Afterwards, we went over to my Parents house to meet my brother Seth and his wife Fran! As I arrived, my Daddy gave me a small bouquet of flowers that were made out of wood chips! They were so pretty and smelled just like real roses. We all just hung out at the house and watched Ace Ventura Pet Detective (a classic for us). After the movie, we all (minus Dad) went to Del Taco and Coldstone for some treats. We just relaxed at the outside tables and had nice discussion. It was absolutely gorgeous outside :) Then we came home, and cleaned the living room (since it was disastrous from moving this weekend!) So now, my house is almost empty, and clean :) Overall it was a great day! It's always nice having a day off to celebrate the joy of being a Mommy :) It's the best job in the world so thank you to my Babeuh for helping make me a Mommy....haha and thanks to Charlee for making the experience SO rewarding :) I love you both!

Side Note: One Year ago today (Mother's Day), Charlee went "pee-pee" in the potty for the first time :) Something to be proud of!
